Brief :

We are currently partnered with a global food business which supplies a niche raw material to the wider food industry. Despite being a well-established c. £250m market leader, their supply chain planning and S&OP/IBP processes are in their infancy in comparison. Therefore, they require a Global Demand Director to join the business in a newly created role to spearhead the maturity of their global business processes. The business is looking to fundamentally change the way their supply chain operates by transforming it from short-term and supply led, to long-term and demand led. There is virtually a blank canvas, meaning there is an opportunity to create and lead global continuous improvement.

Job Specification :

  • Lead the implementation of sophisticated, global demand planning processes
  • Bring and establish ‘best practice’ forecasting techniques and implement statistical forecasting processes
  • Lead the S&OP/IBP process, aligning demand planning with commercial functions and production teams ensuring complete business planning
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with global manufacturing facilities, ensuring transparent flow of information across the business
  • Lead a team of 3 Demand Planners/Controllers – including remote reports
  • Establish demand planning KPI’s, driving CI on accuracy and customer service
  • Lead and drive transparent information flow both through process and systems
  • Present regular updates to Global Board about S&OP and business planning improvements
  • Be the subject matter expert on demand planning
  • Take the supply chain from a production focused model to a demand/customer centric model
    • Use statistical data to plan 18-24 months in advance
  • Deliver on bottom line growth – communicate demand planning issues to improve profit

Candidate Specification :

The ideal candidate will be a high quality supply chain professional with a detailed and extensive background in demand planning and S&OP/IBP management. Possessing strong commercial acumen, they will have a deep understanding of sales forecasting and wider business planning processes. Ideally you will have led the improvement and overhaul of existing S&OP/IBP processes. Food experience is desirable but not essential.
